Businesses should be giving workers the choice of having their wage paid weekly to help break the poverty trap. People are being trapped in poverty after having to claim Universal Credit with no easy way out. A lengthy months work while stuck in a poverty trap does people no favours.
The DWP is expecting job seekers to seek work on very little money, not even enough money to budget for 3 square meals a week which they should be entitled to. This creates problems, people are often having to work an entire month while starving with not enough money to feed their families, to afford their travel expenses.
There are other reasons why someone might be better off getting weekly pay one month for example they had to pay off debts the previous month and require a wage from the next month sooner.
