GMCR has installed solar arrays on 8 state schools and community centres around Greater Manchester
GMCR (Greater Manchester Community Renewables) has currently installed solar arrays on 8 state schools and community centres around Greater Manchester, they are putting an effort in to cut down on carbon emissions produced by public buildings, electricity bills hiked up by them. This can help educated and inspire children about the benefits of Renewable energy sources.
According to GMCR, their first two share offers raised over £320,000 to fund the solar panels on their first six sites, and then raised another £100,000 to fund arrays on three more state schools.
Everyone who buys shares becomes a member of GMCR. In return for helping to fund their solar arrays, members receive share interest of up to 4% per annum, subject to the financial performance of the Society.
They have generatec 300,000 kWh so far and as a result prevented 90 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from polluting power plants. Their partners have saved over £7,000 on their electricity bills.
